The Community Reinvestment Act seeks to ensure that banks and savings associations are meeting the credit needs and development of their entire community, including low- and moderate-income individuals and areas.  Generally, institutions are evaluated based on asset size, with “small” institutions being subject to certain requirements, but not as many as larger banks.
